Overview

The GX9000 combines 8 channels of single wire 24-bit / 192kHz PCM recording and playback with 8 channels of DSD recording and playback. Support for industry-standard file formats ensure instant interchange with popular workstations.

The GX9000 is an embedded design. It has no third party operating system acting as a bottleneck to the real time business of dealing with high resolution digital audio. Nor is there a power hungry or fragile boot drive. The program is held in flash memory and dedicated DSP's (digital signal processors) handle all I/O and transfers to and from disk.

This approach together with the use of high insertion force connectors and a ruggedized chassis ensures a robust and reliable design, essential during live work and in location environments.

Although the GX9000 shares many features with its 48 channel cousin, the GX9048, it adds a couple of unique functions of its own.
1. Front panel metering and track arming allow full local control.
2. An onboard 8 into 2 digital mixer drives a front panel headphone jack and the mix output is also available in balanced AES/EBU format at the rear of the unit. The monitor mixer has level, pan and gain control. You can even adjust the pan level.

These additional features allow the GX9000 to be controlled and operated entirely from the front panel although remote operation is possible.

The rear panel USB 2.0 port can connect either
1. to a PC running the GXR take-logging and editing software or
2. to the GXR948 dedicated remote controller

Every detail of a recording can be annotated and text stored on disk as part of a project.

In common with all Desono products, full duplex optical and coaxial MADI are included as standard. The MADI ports can operate in standard and extended modes, and in addition, the unit can operate in a proprietary mode that is capable of transmitting up to 64 channels of DSD data over one cable, optical or coaxial!
