Overview

The GX9048 combines up to 48 channels of 24-bit/192kHz PCM recording and playback with up to 48 channels of DSD recording and playback to deliver unrivalled levels of performance and flexibility. Seamless punch in and out in DSD mode elevates Direct Stream Digital far beyond its traditional archiving and mastering applications, enabling all the post-production flexibility you're used to with existing PCM formats.

The GX9048 is an embedded design. It has no third party operating system acting as a bottleneck to the real time business of dealing with high resolution digital audio. Nor is there a power hungry or fragile boot drive. The program is held in flash memory and dedicated DSP's (digital signal processors) handle all I/O and transfers to and from disk.

This approach together with the use of high insertion force connectors and a ruggedized chassis ensures a robust and reliable design, essential during live work and in location environments.

The rear panel USB 2.0 port can connect either
1. to a PC running the GXR take-logging and editing software or
2. to the GXR948 dedicated remote controller

Every detail of a recording can be annotated and text stored on disk as part of a project.

In common with all Desono products, full duplex optical and coaxial MADI are included as standard. The MADI ports can operate in standard and extended modes, and in addition, the unit can operate in a proprietary mode that is capable of transmitting up to 64 channels of DSD data over one cable, optical or coaxial!

The GX9048 is capable of live disk mirroring, recording to two drives simultaneously where bandwidth allows to save valuable post session copy time.

A choice of file formats in both PCM and DSD modes facilitates instant interchange with all popular workstation and a built-in sample rate converter operates at rates up to and including 192kHz and even enables conversion from DSD to PCM.

Copying a DSD file from one drive to a PCM file on another is now possible with V3.0 software!
